Caillou: It is a PBS Kids cartoon series. The story features a 4-year old boy named Caillou and his life, playtime, imagination, friendship, growing-up with his family and friends. This series are perfect for preschool age children.
Little Bill: It is a cable television show on Nick Jr. The stories are based on Bill Cosby’s book, Little Bill. This five year old boy loves his family, and he likes his hamster and enjoys going to the school. Both Caillou and Little Bill have a normal family and a normal child life. These cartoons provide positive thinking, imaginations, and reality to our young viewers. They tell us great stories in a mild tone without shock factors such as those generated by Disney missing parent formula.
Little Miss Spider’s Sunnypatch Friends: Another good cartoon is shown in Nick Jr. Miss Spider’s family is not common which is composed of different bugs including, spiders-Miss spider, Holley, Squirt, Spinner, Snowdrop, Pansy, Wiggle; a dragon fly-Dragon; a pink jewel beetle named Shimmer; a blue bedbug named Bounce. Their family life is a role model for us, they teach children to get along with others and help others. We love those bugs and admire their love, courage and positive impact to their society. There is no action hero and no super villain, but my children still love them because they can relate themselves to the stories. A great cartoon!
Wallace and Gromit: It is made by Aardman. The short clay animation series are perfect for Toddlers’ short attention spans. Wallace is a forgetful inventor and a biggest cheese fan. His dog, Gromit, is a genius companion who loves knitting, puzzles and reading (including the electronics for dogs). In addition, he expresses himself using his big and warm eyes but no spoken word . Stories are about their adventures: build a racket and go to the move to eat moon cheese (a grand day out); a birthday present becomes a criminal tool (The wrong Trousers); save a little sheep and the wool yarn industry by defeat a cyberdog (A Close Shave). The series are so cute, my children even call their snow pants “Wrong Trousers” in honor of Gromit. The action and chase between good (Wallace, Gromit and Sheep) and their opponent (correction robot) or Evils (Penguin thief, sheep killing cyberdog) are designed to catch children’s attention. They are fun and timeless family films.
Two films: Chicken Run, Curse of the Were Rabbit : Directed by Peter Lord and Nick Park (Aardman). To little viewers, they are not as good as Wallace and Gromit. The movies are too long for young children and the development of the stories are much slower. The actions are not as well organized as the short films, and conversations are too lengthy. They are fairly good and entertaining for adult viewers. To young viewers, they are not as attractive as the 30 minutes adventures with non-stop action.
Fireman Sam: The stories are involved in a fireman called Sam and his fellow firefighters and the residents in town of Pontypandy. Every little boy loves firefighters and rescue missions. All the stories are simple and easy to be understood. They draw my children’s attention like, real fire trucks. It also teaches the fire safety to the young viewers.
Woo Woo Wubbzy: It is shown on the cable TV, Noggin (now is Nick Jr.). The main colorful characters are yellow Wubbzy (a garble-like creature), pink and handy Widgegt (rabbit), and smart, knowledgeable Walden. Wubbzy lives in a tree, he likes to Play, Play, Play, and he always smiles. Dose it sound familiar? They behave like toddler children. Although play is important part of their lives, they also learn to get along with others, maintain friendship as well as demonstrate humor, creativity and imagination.
Monster Inc.:The story is about the unexpected journey and friendship between a little girl and a large, fury blue monster with purple spots, Sulley. It is a great movie for kids. The story is so cute and it has adventures, actions, relationship, humors, creativity and imaginations. Everyone shall be in love with the fury spotty monster at the end of the movie.
