We had decided not to have more kids after we learnt that twins were on their way to our family. We were thrilled about my pregnancy but meanwhile, we were worried about the double cost for the twins such as daycare, diapers, formulation, clothing.... We tried to be frugal with most of the baby clothing and my maternity clothing since they would only be worn for very short of time.I got most of kids clothes from my sister who has two boys. My younger nephew was one and half years older than my twins. For the used maternity clothes, it was not so easy. I was much smaller than my sister, so I could not borrow her maternity clothing. It would be hard to find right maternity clothes in the store for me because I was very petite. One of my girl friend gave me some of her maternity clothes, it was a great help to me.
I wore my regular clothes during my first trimester. I was not fashionable and did not care if my clothes are not Taylor-made. I started to wear loose tops and pants with elastic or drawstring waistbands in my second trimester. In my third trimester, I needed to wear maternity clothes. In addition to the clothes from my friends, I got two maternity pants and two Oxford shirts from thrift stores. So I could be more representative at work. I got very bad eczema in the third trimester, so I only wore loose, Cotton clothing and avoided clothing with wool during the entire winter. At home, I wore my husband's sweatshirts and sweatpants which were very comfortable. Sharing clothes with my significant other was one in a lifetime experience. I looked O.K. in solid yellow and dark grey with which colors I usually would not dress myself. And he would not let me wear his pants if not for my pregnancy. I will remember the special experience for many years to come and I got some pictures for evidences.
I have been showing my children pictures that have Mommy, Daddy and them in my belly under Da-Da's shirt. They love it and make fun of themselves. The story line is that Tom lying on the top of David in mommy's tommy. Each time Tom kicked David, then David would have a hiccups and then, mommy would get a hiccups.
